On July 4, 2026, Mr. Tom Yurko of Edmonton, Alberta, formerly of St. Paul, Alberta, passed away at the age of 87 years. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Vicki, daughters Christine and Laurie, and son David (Joanne); three grandchildren, Aidan (Seraphina), Marcus, and Alena; his sisters, Rita Soprovich and Phyllis (Darren) Riddle. He was predeceased by his parents Kost and Lena Yurko; his brother John, and brother-in-law, Willis Soprovich.
Tom was born in Hairy Hill, Alberta. He attended the Alberta College of Art in Calgary and studied Fine Arts at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico on an art scholarship. Tom met Vicki while working at Chateau Lake Louise and their journey brought them to St. Paul, Alberta, where Tom operated St. Paul Upholstery, moving to Edmonton in retirement.
Tom was a talented artist whose works have graced art galleries in St Albert and Edmonton. Tom suffered from long term chronic illness and several bouts of cancer. The family would like to thank the following medical teams who cared for Tom over the last 20 years; Dr. Bailey and staff, Cross Cancer, Dr. Ramesh, and the staff at Royal Alexandra Hospital Outpatient IV Clinic.
To honour Tom’s wishes, no public service will be held.
