Fort Piranhas celebrate success at recent swim meets

Piranhas coaches say the team put together an outstanding performance and that they are proud of all their swimmers. An incredible 90% of all swims resulted in personal best times, showing just how hard our swimmers have been working this season.

Recommended Videos “It was a fun weekend, and it’s been amazing to watch everyone’s improvement throughout the year.” At the Wainwright meet Braeden Paul set a club record in the boy 13-14 50m breaststroke. Other high point medalists included 7–8 Girls – Natasha Reutow (Silver), 7–8 Boys – Arsene Basilo (Silver), 9–10 Girls – Emily Bechtel (Silver), 9–10 Boys – Axton Eischen (Silver), and 11–12 Girls – Ella Bechtel (Silver).

Two weekends earlier, the Piranhas also travelled to the Derrick Pool in Edmonton to compete. The club had 34 athletes attend, including five swimmers competing in their very first swim meet. The team earned 10 medals, the most the Piranhas have won at a single meet in over two years, a fantastic accomplishment!

6 & Under Boys – Remi Gray Melnyk (Bronze), 6 & Under Boys – Maverick Noyen (Silver), 7–8 Girls – Natasha Reutow (Silver), 7–8 Boys – Reux Gray Melnyk (Bronze), 9–10 Boys – Axton Eischen (Silver), 9–10 Boys – Tucker Anderson (Bronze), 11–12 Girls – Ella Bechtel (Gold), 13–14 Boys – Braeden Paul (Gold), 15–17 Boys – Sawyer Bylsma (Silver), and 15–17 Girls – Grace Laybourne (Silver) earning a club record. “Congratulations to all of our swimmers on two fantastic meets,” said Piranhas staff. “We’re excited to keep the momentum going as we head into the final month of the season!”
