As of 6 p.m. AT, the wildfire, located about 100 kilometres east of Halifax, is estimated to be more than 300 hectares. An alert from the Halifax municipality advised residents north of Civic 2890 and south of Civic 2124 to be prepared to evacuate on short notice "if conditions change in the coming hours and an evacuation order is needed."
The alert said Nova Scotia's Department of Natural Resources along with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency are fighting the fire. Mooseland Road is closed in both directions between civic numbers 2124 and 2887 due to firefighting operations, the alert said.
