Bracebridge updating rural road speed limits

Approximately 177 signs will be updated throughout the summer.

Paying extra attention to speed limit signs on the roads of Bracebridge this summer could save you a few dollars. The town says it will be updating speed limit signs and implementing new speed limits across town this summer, as approved by council three years ago. According to the town, 117 new signs will be going up across the municipality’s rural roads.

Depending on factors like the road’s surface type and traffic volume, the updated speed limit will be 40 or 50 km/h. The town says the new speed limits are enforceable once the updated sign is installed. The town says it hopes reducing the speed limit will help improve stopping sight lines, lower the risk of serious collisions and make room for more accessible housing by easing driveway entrance requirements.
