WindsorEssex Community Foundation seeks projects to tackle housing affordability, food insecurity

The annual grant program provides funding up to $15,000 for local initiatives.

The WindsorEssex Community Foundation is searching for projects that will improve living conditions in the region. The foundation’s annual Community Impact Grant Program will fund up to $15,000 for proposals that address key social, economic and environmental challenges in Windsor-Essex. According to its annual Vital Signs Report, prominent issues include housing affordability, food insecurity, and access to education, transportation, and mental health services.

The foundation encourages projects that focus on improving community well-being, equity, the environment, arts andculture, youth engagement, and education. Participating organizations must be not-for-profit, servicing the Windsor-Essex region, and a registered charity, amateur athletic association or municipality. Those who received a Community Impact Grant last year are not eligible to apply.

The foundation will not accept applications for religious or political projects, unless a religious organization’s proposal will serve the broader community. Interested organizations have until Aug. 14 to submit their applications at wecf.ca. sgrishpul@postmedia.com
