Windsor robbery suspect arrested at Pearson airport while trying to leave Canada

Two masked men, one with a knife, allegedly stole cash and merchandise from a gas station.

A man wanted in connection with a knifepoint robbery at an east Windsor gas station was arrested at Pearson International Airport while allegedly attempting to leave Canada, police say. The Windsor Police Service said members of the major crimes unit contacted the suspect by phone on July 10 and advised him of the charges he was facing. Police said the man refused to co-operate with investigators or turn himself in.

The following day, officers arrested him at the airport as he attempted to board a flight out of the country. Windsor police later attended Peel Regional Police Service headquarters and took custody of the suspect. Police have charged the man, 23, with 13 criminal offences, including robbery with an offensive weapon, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats and nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

The charges stem from a robbery reported at a business in the 9900 block of Tecumseh Road East at about 1:40 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2025. According to police, two masked males entered the gas station, with one suspect brandishing a knife. The suspects allegedly stole cash and merchandise before fleeing the area.

No physical injuries were reported. At the time, police described one suspect as a male wearing a black toque, black ski mask, red zip-up sweater and black jeans. The second suspect was described as wearing a black ski mask, black sweater, blue jeans and black shoes while carrying a blue satchel.
