Wildfire ignites off Coquihalla Highway near Dewdney Creek Published 8:49 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2026 A wildfire that sparked off the Coquihalla Highway on Wednesday evening quickly grew to 1 hectare in size. The blaze was first reported just after 6 p.m. near Dewdney Creek, approximately 25 km southwest of Hope.
This wildfire does not currently pose a threat to structures, critical infrastructure, or public safety and Highway 5 remains open. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. BC Wildfire Service is responding to the blaze, which is visible from the Coquihalla.
An initial attack crew is on scene along with support from rotary and fixed-wing aircraft.
