The City of Kelowna is reminding residents and visitors to stay cool during extreme heat.

Ways to stay cool during extreme heat in Kelowna Published 1:50 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2026 A heat alert for the Central Okanagan has the City of Kelowna reminding residents and visitors to stay cool. The City of Kelowna says people looking to cool down can visit any public city facility during operating hours throughout the summer, including recreation buildings, activity centres and local libraries. Those looking to cool down can also take indoor breaks at local restaurants, museums, art galleries, movie theatres or malls.

People who want to stay outdoors and enjoy the summer heat can also visit one of Kelowna’s three waterparks, including City Park (1600 Abbott Street), Ben Lee (900 Houghton Road), and Quilchena Splash Park (347 Quilchena Drive). The city ensures that those living at outdoor sheltering sites around town are being supported through additional outreach efforts. Free outdoor recreation events are not impacted by the heat alert at this time.
