Want to have fun, kids! Attend Art in the Park!

Smoky River Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is continuing to provide fun summer activities for youth in the region with Art in the Park next on their list. Community programmer Tianna Todd says Art in the Park will be held at the Girouxville Municipal Playground on July 27 at 1:30 p.m. “We are inviting all ages of people to come enjoy Art in the Park,” says Todd. “It’s a fun way to interact with nature in a creative and inspiring way.”

Todd says there is no cost to attend the activity, and she feels the event will help to eliminate the financial barriers some families may have. She says the event is all inclusive and is meant to provide everyone with a great afternoon of activity. “Join us for an afternoon of creativity and outdoor fun,” Todd says.

“Explore nature-inspired art stations, create unique crafts, make leaf prints, design sun catchers, and complete a nature sketch challenge. All supplies are provided—just bring your imagination.” Art stations at the event will include various stations, including Nature Crowns.

“Artists will use cardstock strips and kids can decorate their own nature crown with supplies they find in the park that day,” explains Todd. “We will also do a Nature Printing station, where kids can use paint to paint leaves or flowers and press them to paper to see the fun prints they create,” she adds. She says they will also have a Sun Catchers station for kids who want to use their creativity differently.

“To make this, kids will stick their nature or park findings between two sheets of clear contact paper and create a unique suncatcher,” says Todd. “Finally, we will have a Nature Scavenger Hunt and sketchbook station. Kids can take pens and pencil crayons around the park to draw what they see and or find out and about.”
