Tornado warning lifted for areas northeast of Calgary, tornado watches remain in parts of Alberta

A tornado warning issued Tuesday night covered a section of Starland County and the communities of Delia, Hanna, Richdale and Spondin, approximately 160 kilometres northeast of Calgary.

The warning, issued by Environment Canada at 7:44 p.m., covered a section of Starland County and the communities of Delia, Hanna, Richdale and Spondin.

It was lifted at 8:13 p.m. The weather agency said a severe thunderstorm was being tracked southwest of Lawsonburg, approximately 140 kilometres northeast of Calgary. As of 8:30 p.m., Environment Canada had multiple severe weather warnings and watches in effect in different parts of Alberta, including some tornado watches.

A tornado watch was issued earlier Tuesday for much of central Alberta due to the possibility of severe thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes.
