Teen charged with assaulting Sault security guards

A 16-year-old faces assault and threats charges after police in Sault Ste. Marie say they kicked, punched and scratching security guards during a disturbance at a local business.

Police in Sault Ste. Marie say a 16-year-old is facing multiple charges after an altercation with security personnel at a local business yesterday. Officers responded to the 700 block of Great Northern Road around 10 a.m. on July 13 following a 911 call reporting an assault in progress.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said the accused youth was arrested at the scene. Want more Sault-area news?

Check out its local news page. Investigation details “An investigation revealed the accused youth threatened, kicked, punched, and scratched security guards,” the police service said in a news release. Police said the security guards sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the incident.

Charges laid The 16-year-old has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
