Tatum, MacPherson and Shaw named athletes of the year at Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy

Brock Tatum, Claire MacPherson and Skylar Shaw each received top athlete awards at Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy for the 2025-26 School Sport Nova Scotia season. Tatum was named the school’s male athlete of the year, while MacPherson and Shaw were the co-female athletes of the year. Shaw won most valuable player awards in soccer, basketball, and senior track and field, while also claiming the most improved award in badminton and softball.

She also claimed the fair play and dedication award in volleyball and table tennis. She also received the SSNS exemplary participation award. MacPherson claimed most valuable player awards in soccer, basketball, senior table tennis and senior badminton, while taking home the fair play and dedication award in senior track and field.

Tatum was most valuable player awards in golf and softball while claiming the fair play and dedication award for hockey and senior track and field. He also claimed most improved golf.
