Sault police hunt for dirt biker who fled traffic stop

Police in Sault Ste. Maire seek public's help identifying two dirt biker who fled a traffic stop last week after performing a wheelie on roadways where dirt bikes are not permitted.

Police in Sault Ste. Marie are asking for the public’s help in identifying two dirt bike riders who were observed performing stunts and evading officers last week. The Sault Ste.

Marie Police Service said officers first spotted the two individuals shortly after 5 p.m. on July 8 on Second Line West and Allens Side Road . According to police, both dirt bikes were being operated on roadways where such vehicles are not permitted and neither displayed a licence plate. Additionally officers said that one of the riders, who was not wearing a helmet, performed a stunt by doing a ‘wheelie.’

“In the interest of public safety, officers discontinued the traffic stop.” Vehicle descriptions and investigation The dirt bikes are described as one blue-and-white machine and one red machine. Police have not released further details about the suspected makes or models.

Investigators also released dashcam footage of the incident to assist in identifying the individuals. The footage is being circulated in the hopes that members of the public will recognize the riders or the distinctive bikes.
