Rossland museum celebrates city’s soccer history during World Cup Published 12:27 pm Thursday, July 16, 2026 As the world’s attention turns to soccer pitches in Vancouver during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a new exhibit in Rossland is shining a spotlight on a different kind of football story, one rooted in generations of local players, community leagues and hometown pride. The Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre has unveiled “Goooal! Soccer in Rossland,” an outreach exhibit that traces the city’s connection to the sport through historic artifacts, personal stories and memorabilia.

The exhibit opened at the Prestige Mountain Resort in downtown Rossland and will remain on display through September, offering visitors a look at how soccer has helped shape the community over the decades. Among the featured items are the historic A.S. Goodeve Cup, awarded in the former Rossland Industrial League, and a Rossland Youth Soccer jersey representing the next generation of players. Together, the artifacts tell a story of a sport that has long brought residents together, from workplace rivalries to youth development.

The exhibit explores the athletes, anecdotes and community spirit that have defined soccer in Rossland while highlighting both the sport’s history and its future in the city. The museum also credited the Prestige Mountain Resort for continuing to host its outreach exhibits, saying community partnerships allow local history to reach audiences beyond the museum’s walls. The exhibit is free to view and is open during the resort’s regular business hours until September.
