PHOTOS: String Fest offers unique four-day retreat for musicians in Peterborough

Amateur and professional musicians attend four-day musical retreat.

String Fest participants converged on stage at the Black Horse Pub in Peterborough Saturday. This past weekend, a group of amateur and professional string players from across Ontario converged for the second annual String Fest. The event was hosted by award-winning violinist and music educator, Victoria Yeh.

The four-day music retreat for creative string players is a unique experience in Canada where musicians of all ages explore everything from classical music to fiddle, jazz, blues and improv through private lessons, master classes, ensembles, performances and after-hours jams in a safe and encouraging learning environment. String Fest faculty included Janina Kraus (accompanist), Curtis Driedger (fiddle/folk) and Mike Graham (jazz/blues) alongside Yeh. On-site accommodations and all workshop activities took place at the Rusticators Stage.
