PHOTOS: Agassiz-Harrison Aquanauts bid farewell to Ferny Coombe pool in one last memorial meet Published 11:50 am Tuesday, July 14, 2026 It was the end of an era for the Agassiz-Harrison Aquanauts as they hosted the final Kristy Hatt Memorial Swim Meet to take place at the Ferny Coombe outdoor pool this past weekend.

The AHA swim club welcomed 476 swimmers from Agassiz, Hope Chilliwack Abbotsford, Mission, Aldergrove, Langley, Haney, Boundary Bay, Port Moody, and Richmond, including 90 AHA club swimmers, for a weekend of intense competition. The local swimmers described the event as a memorable end to the chapter in the club’s history. “For decades, Ferny Coombe has fostered laughter, competition, perseverance, and community, shaping so many athletes and families along the way,” the club stated via social media.

“While this weekend marks the end of an era, we are grateful to have celebrated one last unforgettable meet in the pool that has meant so much to so many. Thank you to every swimmer, coach, official, volunteer, sponsor, and spectator for helping us close this chapter in such a memorable way. While we look ahead to an exciting future, Ferny Coombe will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Agassiz Harrison Aquanauts.”

The memorial swim meet honours the memory of Kristy Hatt. Hatt was a 14-year veteran of the Agassiz-Harrison Aquanauts who inspired many swimmers before she was killed in a car accident in the early 2000s. The Ferny Coombe pool opened in 1978.
