Chrissy Payne has resigned as councillor in Chichester, according to a press release by Pontiac Ouest released on Monday. Payne tendered her resignation at the monthly council meeting of July 6, where she announced that a new opportunity in Toronto is leading her to move out of the region. Payne, who served nine years as Chichester councillor, was in her third term.

She was elected via acclamation in the 2025 municipal elections as no other candidate put forward their name for the position. She also ran unopposed in the 2021 elections. In the following weeks, a by-election will be held to fill the seat.
