Article content An outdoor education program is being expanded for Huron-Superior Catholic District School students in Elliot Lake. Twelve Grade 5 and 6 students at Our Lady of Lourdes participated in the program’s first year in 2025-26. The outdoor education option will be expanded to Grade 7 students for the 2026-27 school year.
Recommended Videos “We are looking at more than double the number of students enrolled,” said communications officer Kenzie Vandenberg in an email to The Sault Star. “We are excited about the program’s growth as it provides a unique learning opportunity for students.” Grade 8 students are pegged for participation in 2027-28, HSCDSB is partnering with Serpent River First Nation to offer the program.
The First Nation bought the former Rockhaven School for Exceptional Children in the community where the program is offered.
