OPP: traffic stop turns into $42K drug bust

One man is now facing a number of serious, drug related charges after police initially pulled him over for an alleged traffic violation.

One man is now facing a number of serious, drug related charges after police initially pulled him over for an alleged traffic violation. Provincial police say they were conducting active patrol around 11 a.m. in Georgian Bluffs, in the area of Grey Road 3 near Sideroad 3. During patrol, officers were alerted to a licence plate that was associated with a Highway Traffic Act violation through the OPP’s automated licence plate reader.

OPP say they conducted a traffic stop, during which officers observed cannabis products in the vehicle, which led them to investigate and search the vehicle. As a result of the search, police claim they seized an approximate 176 grams of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of $17,600. OPP say they also found 199.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $19,900.

Additionally, police say they seized 19.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $4,750. A 26-year-old Brampton man now faces three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of operation while prohibited, a count of driving while suspended, driving without a currently validated permit, failure to surrender an insurance card and driving with cannabis readily available.
