This month’s Friends of the Hennepin Canal “Hike the Hennepin” will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 19, and will travel from Bridge 47 to Bridge 50 on the Feeder Canal. This hike is approximately four miles long and is called “White Tail Deer.” Hikers will meet at Bridge 50 on the northwest side at 10 a.m., where they will be shuttled to Bridge 47 to begin the hike.
Due to predicted hot temperatures, the hike time has been moved up to 10 a.m. to avoid the hottest part of the day. Directions to Bridge 50: Take Route 40 north from Route 6 (or I-80) to Route 172. Then go west on Route 172 to where it crosses the Feeder Canal.
You need not be a member of the Friends of the Hennepin Canal to participate and there is no fee for the hike. Please dress appropriately for the weather. For more information, contact the Friends of the Hennepin Canal at hikes@friends-hennepin-canal.org.
