Mr. Mikes fires up support for YWCA with seventh annual fundraising BBQ Community members lined up for burgers, entertainment and a good cause Monday as Mr. Mikes SteakhouseCasual hosted its seventh annual fundraising barbecue in support of YWCA Prince Albert. The event, held outside the restaurant, featured live music, opportunities to win the Beach Radio 101.5 Summer Free Ride, face painting, henna tattoos, games and prize giveaways, with all proceeds helping support the YWCA’s programs and services. “We picked YWCA seven years ago because it works in so many different areas,” said Mr. Mikes owner and operator Davinder Singh.

“It helps women, children, people experiencing homelessness. It’s a big umbrella organization, and the first barbecue we did was successful, so we just decided to keep doing it as long as we can.” Singh said last year’s event raised approximately $3,500, and organizers were hoping to surpass that total this year, with a goal of reaching $6,000.
