Montreal police arrest 2 suspects in connection with antisemitic attacks

Two 20-year-old men were arrested in Montreal in relation to recent attacks on members of the Jewish community.

Two 20-year-old men were arrested in Montreal in relation to recent attacks on members of the Jewish community. Montreal police say the attacks occurred on July 3, in Montreal's Outremont borough. The suspects reportedly approached eight different members of the community and yelled insults at them.

Police say they also stole shtreimels — fur hats worn by some of the members — from them before fleeing in their vehicle. The police's hate crimes unit launched an investigation into the attacks that led to the arrests of the two men on July 14 and 15. The suspects were released from custody and will appear in Quebec court in early 2027.
