The Mendota Major League baseball team won the District 20 championship Thursday.

The Mendota Major League baseball team won the District 20 championship with an 8-4 victory over Illinois Valley on Thursday in La Salle. Mendota advances to the state tournament, which begins July 25 in Peru, Oglesby and Utica. Mendota will face the District 17 winner at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 25 in Utica.

Mendota also plays the District 12 champion on Saturday, July 25 in Peru. On Sunday, July 26, Mendota faces the District 10 winner at 11 a.m. in Peru. Bracket play begins on Monday, July 27 in Oglesby and Peru.

The semifinals are Tuesday, July 28 in Peru, with the championship game set for 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 in Peru.
