William "Bill" McMullen May 27, 1959 – July 8, 2026 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" McMullen on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 67, in Sudbury, Ontario, surrounded by those he loved. He was the beloved son of Josephine (Travaglini) and Ronald McMullen and is lovingly remembered by his wife Christine; his children Nick (Bianca) and Alyssa (Devyn); his grandchildren Adelynne and Axel; his sister Susan; and his many nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind a wide circle of friends who were, in every sense, family to him. Bill was born on May 27, 1959, in Sudbury, Ontario. He spent his career with Atkins Realis, but what truly defined him was his love for the people in his life.
For Bill, there was nothing better than time spent with family and friends. In his grandchildren, Adelynne and Axel, he found a joy like no other. Those who knew him well will remember the way his whole face changed the moment those little ones walked into the room.
Bill was happiest outdoors, hunting and fishing with the people he loved, or quietly picking blueberries on a warm summer day. He had a lifelong passion for hockey and baseball, cheering on his beloved Boston Bruins and Detroit Tigers through every high and low. He loved a round of golf, and nothing made him prouder than watching his children play sports.
He could always be counted on for a good story, even if it took a little while to get to the end. Nobody minded. Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His laugh was contagious, his stories were endless, and his love for his family and friends was the thing that defined him most. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Bill's memory to the Copper Cliff Minor Hockey Association, an organization that meant a great deal to him and that carries forward the spirit of community he cherished. E-transfers can be sent to [email protected], or cheques may be made payable to CCMHA and mailed to: CMHA, P.O. Box 666, Copper Cliff, ON P0M 1N0.
A memorial service will be held in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 at 1pm. Friends may gather after 12:30 Wednesday.
