September 30, 1935 - April 12, 2026 With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our Mom, Grams, Sister & Great Grandma, Marlene Christina Norbraten on Sunday April 12th, 2026. She’s joined Vern once again.

September 30, 1935 - April 12, 2026 With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our Mom, Grams, Sister & Great Grandma, Marlene Christina Norbraten on Sunday April 12th, 2026. She’s joined Vern once again. Marlene Christina Norbraten (Scanlon/Belovich) was born Sept 30th, 1935 in Nipawin Sask.. Growing up in Nipawin her parents Nina & Moris had a “Variety Store” they lived in the back of the building for years.

Marlene also lived on the farm with her grandparents before heading to town to start school. Marlene met the love of her lifetime Vernon Norbraten in Nipawin & they began their long life together. They moved to Prince George in 1954.

For many years while Vern ran a logging business with his brothers she was making it work in logging camps. They moved into town when Lyn & Greg started school. Soon Gary & Kenny came to keep Marlene busy.

Over the years the 6 of them would make trips back to Nipawin to see the family. Which then turned into bringing the grandkids back eventually. Marlene had worked at the College of New Caledonia & absolutely loved her job.

Once Vern had decided he wanted to open a Golf Course she left CNC to work alongside Vern for the rest of her days. In 1971 they opened Aspen Grove Golf Course where she became the “Heart & Soul” of Aspen. She was loved so dearly by everyone.

Even if you didn’t know her before you came to golf, you did know her once you left. She is & will be missed by friends & customers. Marlene passed away peacefully with Lyn & Gary holding her hands at PG Hospice house.

The love & care she received there was amazing. Marlene found the best Doctor late in life, Dr. Ahmed. He took Marlene on as a patient when he knew the odds were against her.

Dr Ahmed, his wife & his office were nothing but the absolute best & made her time as comfortable as possible. We can’t thank you enough. Marlene leaves for the moment, her children, Lynina Norbraten & John Reinhart, Greg Norbraten, Gary Norbraten (Cheryl, deceased), Ken Norbraten & Amie Demerchant.

Her Sister’s Gail Fraser & family, sister Loretta Friedman & Family, brother Eugene & Marg (deceased) & sister Dotty (deceased) The McLearly families she found late in life, Spencer & Debbie, Sandra & Dale, Tammy & Gerald, Connie & Blair, Kim & Dave, Randy & Angela, Rodney (deceased) & Beverly. Marlene was the best Grams & GG to....

Jen, Matt, Audrey & Emma Faulk. Laura (Reinhart) & Nicholas Muentzner. Jen, Neal, Kaylyn, Dyllan & Lachlan Brandner.

Jesse Demerchant. Cordell & Radley Roper. Kyle, Olivia, Aria & Oslo Norbraten. Kirk, Jenn, Lucas & Beau Norbraten.

She had a large family with cousins all over, we will miss her dearly. Her large family will cherish the fun times she had, especially her cousins (there’s a lot of Doyle’s out there.) You may rest in peace once again in Dad’s arms joining your parents & other family members.
