Man in critical condition after being struck by transit bus in Surrey

Lindsey Houghton told CBC News police believe the bus had been stopped before the collision. "The collision, we believe, happened ... actually right at the bus stop," Houghton said. "We know that sometimes ... buses can obstruct views of people who may have been driving or walking on the other side of the street, so we really need to know what happened and the circumstances and the timeline of events."

The victim, a man in his 40s, underwent multiple surgeries overnight, Houghton said. Houghton said speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision. It is not the first serious crash at the intersection this year.

In February, a 22-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by a driver travelling northbound on 128 Street. At the time, police said impairment may have been a contributing factor to the collision.
