Source You have to wonder what Stan Cho, Doug Ford’s tourism minister, was thinking when he billed taxpayers $16,000 for hotel rooms over a three-year period in Toronto. The news, broken early Tuesday morning by Global News, surely has Cho hanging his head in shame as he figures out how to pay it all back. Yes, Minister Cho, who lives in Toronto, will reimburse the treasury, not because it is the right thing to do but because he got caught. In fact, while Cho now says he will pay the total amount back, when initially contacted by Global, he only promised to pay back expenses that didn’t “meet the spirit of the policy.” Having read the policy, as I am sure Cho did before submitting the expenses, none of what he has billed taxpayers on this front meets the letter or the spirit of the regulations.
