Library Link: The Most Creative Space in Your Library

The Airdrie Public Library’s Create Space is offering free hands-on access to creative technology during two scheduled Explore Day sessions this summer.

You might not know it yet, but the Library has a space for everyone who walks through its doors. Spaces for reading, when you’ve found a book you just can’t put down. Spaces for studying, when focus matters and you need room to think.

Spaces for computers, when access and connection are what you need most. Spaces for gathering, because the Library is a community meeting place. Spaces for littles, where reading turns into play and discovery.

Spaces for creatives, where ideas can grow, shift, and come to life. And among all these spaces, there’s one that’s especially full of possibility: our Create Space. “Our Create Space is free to access, with costs only applying to materials or project supplies.

In most cases, patrons can bring their own materials, with the exception of 3D printing,” says Jamieson Gardiner, APL’s community creator. If you’ve ever been curious about it, you’re invited to step inside during Create Space Explore Day on Friday, July 17, and Friday, August 7, from 4:30–6:00 p.m. It’s a hands-on, drop-in opportunity to try creative tools, explore technology like 3D printing, and see what the space has to offer with support from our Create Space team.

“Create Space Explore Day is for everyone, and what’s exciting is that every age group will have a different experience,” Gardiner says. Gardiner continues, “We are working hard to increase the usability of the space, and the public should keep a close eye out for updates on an ongoing project we think they’ll be very excited about!” Come discover, experiment, and get inspired in our Create Space; you just might be surprised by what you can make.
