Article content A path to truth I’m disappointed in the City of Cornwall and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Recommended Videos As a member of the LGBTQ+ community currently living in the downtown core, I am subjected to religious proselytization on an almost daily basis. To add insult to injury, the faithful set up their placards and promote their harmful ideology on the corner of First and Pitt streets, directly overshadowing the rainbow crosswalk.

The Abrahamic religions have been my community’s death knell ever since we were declared “sinful abominations that surely will be put to death” by them 4,000 years ago. The death toll proves it has been one of the most successful of doctrines. Modern-day adherents to scripture (blasphemers) who made up their own version of these faiths out of whole cloth publicly claim to harbour no ill will towards us but still maintain our nature is sinful.

In other words, they are putting up with us and will let their deity and their fundamentalist brethren deal with us so they can wash the blood off their hands. How humane. What they fail to realize is that they do not have the authority to subvert and supplant their unchallengeable god’s words with their own.

Blasphemy drips from their forked tongues. It is past time the Canadian government and municipalities recognize these truths and bring these harmful, divisive, archaic, and fallacious ideologies to their inevitable end. For the sake of morality, and our children.
