Heat alert called off for the Central Okanagan Published 11:47 am Friday, July 17, 2026 Environment Canada has ended the yellow heat alert for the Central Okanagan. Following the removal of the alert, the City of Kelowna has transitioned out of its elevated heat response measures and has returned to normal operations. While the heat alert was in place for a couple of days, the City of Kelowna supported the public by promoting available cooling spaces and implementing response measures.

“While the alert has ended, residents are reminded that summer heat remains a seasonal risk. The city will continue to monitor weather conditions and maintain readiness should future heat alerts be issued,” said the City of Kelowna in a written statement. People looking to cool down this summer can still visit public facilities, spend time in shaded parks and green spaces or cool off at one of Kelowna’s water parks or lakes.
