It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Hans Roger Christianson, on July 2, 2026, at the age of 98.

Hans Roger Christianson Published July 15, 2026 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Hans Roger Christianson, on July 2, 2026, at the age of 98. Roger was born on September 24, 1927, in Rainy River Ontario to Hans Roderick and Mary.

His early years with siblings Don, Norma, Merle, Lorna, and Sandra were spent in The Pas Manitoba. He lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, and devotion to his family and friends. Whether through his years with the Manitoba Department of Public Health, his 31 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, or his work with the Canadian International Development Agency or the World University Games (Universiade 1983) or in various other careers, his generosity or his sense of humour, he touched the lives of many and will be remembered with love and gratitude.

He was a devoted husband to May (deceased November 17, 2014), a loving father to Doug, Neil (deceased June 19, 1956), Pat (Jones) and Heather (Nixon), a proud grandpa to Neil (deceased May 6, 1994), John, Richard, Lindsey, Victoria, Traci-Lee and Elaine and a proud great grandpa to Luke, Sean, Blair, Dre, Riley, Yasmin, Benson and Charlie. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. His nephew Jackson and his family were regarded with the greatest affection.

Our dad enjoyed working with youth, having been involved with the Army Cadet camp in Vernon BC for many years. He was a passionate reader, especially of history, very artistic, liked cross country skiing, walking, playing chess, learning new things and was a skilled handyman. His wisdom, compassion, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

At the request of our father there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice, if desired. Though he is no longer with us, his love, values and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and everyone whose lives he touched.
