Found Festival brings art to unconventional spaces this weekend

Venues across Edmonton got a creative makeover for the Found Festival‘s celebration of the arts this weekend.

Venues across Edmonton got a creative makeover for the Found Festival‘s celebration of the arts this weekend. The event brings a range of performances – 12-hour dancing, poetry and cabaret, to name a few – to iconic locations like the John Walter Museum and Light HOrse Park. It was created 15 years ago by local artists Andrew Ritchie and Elena Belyea and is now run by Common Ground Arts.

“A group of Edmonton-based artists got together and they were feeling quite frustrated by the lack of accessible, inexpensive performance space,” managing producer Rainier Pearl-Styles said. “We really love to carry on that tradition of bringing art to locations that you might not originally think that there should be.” Although suggested ticket prices start at $20 for most performances, the cost is flexible and pay-what-you-will.
