The Ignite Durham Learning Foundation is getting a financial boost to continue their community-based work to expand access to quality education for underserved children. The Durham District School Board’s (DDSB) charity was among the first wave of organizations to receive grants from the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The foundation supports more than 82,000 DDSB students at 141 school by responding to the real and immediate needs identified by educators each day.

The grant will allow the non-profit to significantly expand its capacity to respond to growing needs, including access to nutritious food, clothing, footwear, school supplies, transportation, participation in extra curriculars and other urgent priorities. The exact amount of grant money was not disclosed, but the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund said each organization will get between $50,000 and $250,000 USD.
