Cougar sighting in Lancaster Park area: Town of Comox Published 9:42 am Tuesday, July 14, 2026 The Town of Comox has issued a July 13 statement about a recent cougar sighting in the Lancaster Park area. “With recent cougar sightings in the area, please stay cautious and keep your distance from these animals,” the statement read. The town also advises people to call the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277 if they see a cougar in an urban area or one that is exhibiting unusual or aggressive behaviour.

If someone witnesses a cougar in conflict with the human environment — attacking pets or livestock, stalking a human, habitual daytime sightings, lingering near high-risk public places, or if the cougar is trapped or treed — they should also call the BC Conservation Officer Service.
