Christopher Lake Legion hall to receive major upgrade The Legion Hall in Christopher Lake is set to undergo a major upgrade. A restoration campaign has set a goal of $300,000. Fundraising committee chair Dennis Richardson, a longtime cottage owner in the area, said that faced with the option of paying $750,000 for a new building, they opted to restore the current landmark that has served the community for more than 70 years.

“The Legion Hall in Christopher Lake is the community hall. It’s the one that’s been there through the weddings, Remembrance Day services, funerals, and all kinds of other activities in between,” he said. “I mean, that’s a big part of the history of the community.”

The Legion hall was built in 1957 and was a community project involving residents and the Legion. Eventually, the Legion took over the hall and became responsible for maintenance and upkeep.
