Chilliwack RCMP drug bust leads to 6 charges, vehicle and firearm seizures

A Langley man has been charged with several offences after a Chilliwack RCMP investigation that resulted in the seizure of more than 9.5 kilograms of suspected illicit drugs, two firearms, two vehicles and $45,000 in cash.

A Langley man has been charged with several offences after a Chilliwack RCMP investigation that resulted in the seizure of more than 9.5 kilograms of suspected illicit drugs, two firearms, two vehicles and $45,000 in cash. The B.C. Prosecution Service laid six charges against Tyler Shawn Missen on July 2, according to a Tuesday news release from Mission RCMP. The charges against him are as follows: Online court records indicate that Missen, who was born in 1990, is currently in custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Thursday in Abbotsford.

The charges stem from an investigation launched by the Chilliwack RCMP Priority Target Team in April of this year, according to the detachment’s release. Mounties described the investigation as targeting “a network of individuals involved in trafficking illicit drugs in Chilliwack.” Investigators soon connected the suspects to trafficking in Abbotsford and Langley, as well, according to police.

On June 29, police said, Chilliwack RCMP, the Abbotsford Police Department, Langley RCMP and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team worked together to execute search warrants at a home on Glenmore Road in Abbotsford, a storage locker in Abbotsford and a home on 202A Street in Langley. During the searches, police arrested three people and seized more than 9.5 kilograms of suspected drugs, including 600 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 4.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 3.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl and 1.1 kilograms of “additional suspected controlled substances,” according to Chilliwack RCMP.

Investigators also seized the firearms, vehicles and currency during the search. Police did not specify what kinds of firearms or vehicles were seized. They also did not say whether charges will be recommended against the other two people arrested in connection to the investigation.

CTV News has reached out to Chilliwack RCMP for more information, and this story will be updated if a response is received. “Drug traffickers do not respect jurisdictional boundaries when distributing toxic drugs in our communities,” said Cpl. Stephan Mendela, of Chilliwack RCMP, in the release.

“This investigation required significant collaboration among multiple policing agencies and demonstrates the value of inter-agency co-operation in addressing organized drug trafficking.”
