Calgary Police have arrested and charged a man in relation to multiple voyeurism incidents at rental properties that he owns. Last month, police were notified after tenants of a rental property noticed multiple cameras hidden around the property, including on a surge protector device in the bathroom and a smoke detector in a bedroom. Later that week, police executed a search warrant at a property in the southwest community of Springbank Hill, where they seized multiple electronic storage devices.
Police believe the same landlord installed similar devices at another rental property located in the northwest community of Brentwood. On Friday, police arrested Sooryong Park, 41, who is also believed to use the alias Nick Park. He was charged with one count of break and enter and five counts of voyeurism.
Police believe Park may also operate as a landlord in Vancouver and Toronto, targeting women of the Korean community, according to a statement released Saturday. Park is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have information about this or similar incidents to contact police by calling 403-266-1234, or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 or online through the Crime Stoppers website or P3 Tips app.
