Frontline officers were busy last night with multitude of calls for service. Officers attended 29 calls for service on Monday evening, July 13 — on the night shift from 6 pm to this morning at 6 am. Today a news release from the West Shore RCMP outlined some of the notable incidents that officers responded to last night.

“West Shore RCMP officers work around the clock to keep our communities safe,” says West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer Corporal Nancy Saggar. 7:20 p.m. – Fraud Report Officers responded to a report of suspects attempting to sell fake jewellery for cash in the parking lot of Canadian Tire, located at 855 Langford Parkway. Police conducted patrols of the area; however, the suspects were not located.

That is a busy shopping mall in a densely populated, high-traffic area. 7:55 p.m. – Indecent Act Police received a report of an indecent act near the 600-block of Stewart Mountain Road in Highlands. A witness hiking in the area observed a man, believed to be in his 40s, wearing only a baseball cap and backpack while otherwise nude on the trail.

The man did not interact with the witness and continued walking. That’s an isolated area. The man was not located.

8:20 p.m. – Report of Shots Fired Officers responded to a report of shots fired near the 2900-block of Sooke Road in Langford, after a witness observed a man discharging what appeared to be a firearm at a parked transport trailer before leaving the area with another suspect in a vehicle. Within 15 minutes, officers located and arrested two men, aged 34 and 44, in connection with the incident. The investigation determined the firearm was an imitation firearm.

The investigation remains ongoing, and both suspects were released on Undertakings with future court dates. That area is largely residential, with an industrial construction site in the area near Slegg Lumber. 10:22 p.m. – Assault Police responded to an assault near the 3100-block of Jacklin Road in Langford (that’s near the Shoppers Drug Mart side of Westshore Town Centre).

The victim was attempting to prevent an unknown man from entering an apartment building without keys when the suspect allegedly assaulted them. A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. 11:10 p.m. – Cause a Disturbance Officers responded to reports of a woman damaging outdoor signage near the 700-block of Hockley Avenue in Langford.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 38-year-old woman yelling, acting belligerently, and displaying signs consistent with drug impairment. She was arrested and later released once she was calm and sober. Other calls: The remaining calls for service included traffic-related complaints, mischief, suspicious persons, wellbeing checks, and other requests for police assistance.
