Bunker Hill Mining appoints permanent CFO ahead of commercial production start Bunker Hill drilling TSX-listed Bunker Hill Mining Corporation has appointed interim CFO Bradley Barnett into a permanent capacity effective immediately. Barnett has played a key role in supporting the company's financial operations during a transformative period, including the redevelopment and commissioning of the historic Bunker Hill mine, in Idaho's prolific Silver Valley. His appointment reflects the Bunker board's confidence in his leadership, financial expertise and ongoing contribution to the company as it nears commercial production.
Bunker also announced the appointment of Mark Hayes as general counsel effective August 10. Hayes brings to the position more than a decade of legal and strategic experience focused on the mining, natural resources and energy sectors. Most recently he worked as head of legal for Nuton, which is Rio Tinto's innovative copper leaching technology venture, where he advised executive leaders on strategic investments, governance matters, commercial agreements and environmental issues.
Hayes has also held various legal positions in Rio Tinto's copper and borates businesses, having supported major mining operations and growth initiatives across the Americas. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, project development, environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, commercial negotiations, joint ventures and corporate governance. "His appointment comes at a key time for Bunker as we advance towards commercial production and evolve our long-term growth strategy.
His combination of operational mining experience, transactional experience and regulatory knowledge will be invaluable as we build a modern, responsible and profitable mining company," says chairperson Richard Williams. Hayes comments that the Bunker Hill mine represents one of the most compelling mine restart stories in North America and the opportunity to help guide the company through this next phase of production and growth is exciting. The restart of the mine after 45 years of closure and remediation represents the first mining operation to restart commercial mining within an active US Environmental Protection Agency Superfund-designated cleanup site since the establishment of the programme in 1969.
Bunker Hill mine will produce silver, zinc and lead concentrates from Idaho's Couer d'Alene Mining District, which is a significant historic silver-producing region in the US.
