However, those are just parts of the legacy he formed through his time in office. Hamm, who led the Progressive Conservatives from 1995 until 2006, died this week at the age of 88.
Following the news of his death, tributes and sentiments came from all over the political spectrum. Prime Minister Mark Carney called Hamm “a dedicated public servant” and praised his work as a “staunch advocate for Nova Scotia.” Premier Tim Houston praised his leadership skills and lasting impact on the province as its “tireless champion.”
NDP Leader Claudia Chender and Interim Liberal Leader Iain Rankin also shared condolences on the loss on social media.
