Four American military aircraft are in Kelowna for training

Blackhawks touch down in Kelowna Published 3:46 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2026 A fleet of American military helicopters landed at YLW Airport in Kelowna on Monday, July 13. According to Ryan Watters, media relations for the Kelowna International Airport, the fleet – which includes three Apache helicopters and one Blackhawk – arrived around 11:55 a.m. on July 13 and will leave on the morning of July 15.

Watters said the airport believes that four different helicopters will arrive for training exercises after the current fleet leaves. These aircraft will then depart on Thursday morning, July 16. The training will not disrupt regular operations at the airport.

Watters said the aircraft are American, but could not confirm if they belonged to the US Air Force. He did confirm that the aircraft are not part of the Canadian Armed Forces.
