Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North five-star receiver Monshun Sales is staying in-state and will play his college football for the defending National Champs. On Friday, Sales announced his commitment to Indiana, choosing to play for head coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers over his other finalists in Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Texas.

Sales ranks as the Rivals300’s No. 2 wide receiver and No. 7 prospect overall. He becomes commit No. 17 for IU in the class-of-2027. and the highest rated player to commit to Indiana in the modern-recruiting era.

“My decision to commit to Indiana was not an easy one,” Sales told Rivals through his agency Ascend. “The relationships that I made with the coaches and staff at Indiana throughout the process is what made it feel like home. “Coach Cignetti has built a winning program and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Sales has always spoken highly of Indiana and why they’re having the ultimate success. “I think it’s the coaching and preparation being at Indiana,” Sales said. “You will learn so much and become a smarter player and person.”

Sales is from the same high school that produced Omar Cooper, Indiana’s standout wide receiver who heard his name called in the first round of April’s NFL Draft. He has great relationships with the players on the team and his official visit during the spring was a terrific experience. “My OV to Indiana was great,” Sales said.

“My favorite part of the OV was the whole thing being with the people, the meetings with the coaches, the photoshoot, everything. It felt great to get back up there and spent great quality time with the coaches and let them show me why I should be a Hoosier.” And now Sales is officially a Hoosier and brings tremendous potential to Bloomington.

In 10 games as a junior Sales caught 37 passes for 794 yards and nine touchdowns averaging 21.5 yards per catch. He also started at safety and had 56 tackles. Rivals Director of Scouting Charles Power compares him to Brian Thomas Jr. a first round selection out of LSU in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“High upside wide receiver prospect with an elite combination of size and speed,” Power wrote in his evaluation. “Checks in at around 6-foot-4.5, 205 pounds with 32.25-inch arms and 9-inch hands. Posts excellent marks on the track, especially at his size, running 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.4 seconds in the 200 meters.

“A vapor trail on vertical routes. Has the potential to take the top off of defenses with regularity. Shows quality tracking skills, locating the football over his shoulder.

Competitive as a blocker and physical while working as a safety. Finished his junior season with 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns. Still adding nuance to his game as a route-runner.

Would like to see him continue to add to his catch radius and become more of a mismatch in contested catch situations given his size. Has the potential to be the top wide receiver prospect in the cycle with continued development.”
